As someone who’s chronically rushing and trying to finish the to-do list, I’ve been practicing something new: giving myself time enough time to have a slow morning. Because honestly, my anxiety can’t handle the nonstop pace.
This piece is inspired by the kind of morning I’ve been learning to savor, the kind where the sun wakes you up before your alarm does. The kind where you actually make your bed, not because someone’s coming over, but because it just feels right. I painted this after a day that started slowly: sipping coffee, listening to the birds, going to the gym with my husband, not for a class, just moving our bodies and letting time pass without pressure.
Lately I’ve been practicing the art of slowing down, even in the smallest things, brushing my teeth, walking the dog, choosing not to rush just because I’m used to it. “Slow Mornings” is my reminder that peace doesn’t always come from getting things done, sometimes it comes from simply slowing down.
